Membership:
Expectations...
Onboarding:
We welcome any potential member to visit us. Often, a person being considered for membership is invited by a club member or sponsor to attend one or more club meetings to learn more about Rotary. In this case, the sponsor submits the candidate’s name to the club’s membership committee. Once you've attended a few meetings, or right off, you can express your intention to join our Club. We request that you share some of your personal information (Prospective Member Form) with one of our VSRC Board Members. We submit that info to our membership committee and upon approval, we will use that information to register you and make you an official Rotarian (both locally and internationally). At that point in time, you will receive one of our informative packets with more, in depth information.
Volunteer:
Volunteering with VSRC can be as small as showing up to most meetings. Other opportunities would include donating to our sponsored events, taking on the role of leadership in different capacities, being support at our hosted events, and/or helping out as a representative of VSRC in the community (ie; museum clean up day/paint day at SPCA - among many ways). We appreciate both large-scale volunteering and also micro volunteering.
Meetings:
Meetings are a time to foster friendships and for fellowship, first of all. Other expectations some may have are for business development, personal growth, leadership development, citizenship in the community, continuing education (speakers), FUN, cultural awareness and the opportunity to serve.
Our calendar on our website shows meeting dates (mostly weekly), dark dates and special events as well as Rotarians’ birthdays, wedding anniversaries and rotary anniversaries. We don’t have an expectation that our members will be at any specific number of meetings; nor do we require “make-up” meetings.
We also do not have a minimum amount of money we expect our members to donate (except dues) each week or at any event. We appreciate your generosity in any capacity. Both time-wise and monetarily.
Special Events:
It is ideal that our Rotary Group is able to host events that are intended for fundraising. We also endeavor to host events that are for the benefit of our community (ie; fishing derby). As a non-profit organization, we also support other non-profit events throughout the year by purchasing tickets to events for our members to enjoy or by just donating monetarily.
VSRC Board:
Our current board consists of current president, past president, future president, secretary and three or more other club members. We meet once per month or every other month.
Rotary International:
This web page gives the perfect introduction to Rotary. Not only will you be a local member of Rotary but you will also become part of the much bigger picture, Rotary International. (Our local club is District 5160)
